POST SHOW BLUES

Thanks to everyone who stopped by my booth and purchased beads at the Pasadena Bead & Design show this past weekend.  It was so much fun to meet new friends and talk about beads and jewelry! I am so inspired by all the ideas you gave me. My head is spinning!  I am going into the studio this afternoon to make glass beads.  I am hoping that will calm my mind.

My friends Erin and Iris at Beadology Bead Store in Huntington Beach have invited me for a trunk show this Sunday, January 27th.  If you didn't get enough of beads or didn't make it to the show, come on over.  They are lovely people and of course have a wonderful bead store. My friend, Karen Nan, will be teaching a class there on Sunday also!

PASADENA BEAD & DESIGN SHOW

This is one of the nicest show in Southern California!  I have gone a few times and this is the first time I am exhibiting my beads. I am excited and nervous! If you have time I can recommend you will enjoy yourself. There are over 300 vendors with everything from hand made beads, purses, scarves, jewelry and clothes.  Did I mention clothes? One of my favorites is DRESSED TO KILL (www.dresstokillclothes.com).

They also have classes and demos.  My friend, Karen Nan, will be teaching a wire wrapping class. Karen's description is "I'll be hosting my popular wire wrapping workshop where you can learn all my techniques and secrets while making a beautiful pendant! Workshops are held Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 3:30 (1-hour), and Sunday at 3:00. The workshop fee is only $10 plus materials; please bring your wire working tools. Call me at (949) 412-4295 or email me at karennan@karennan.com to make your reservation." To see more of Karen's work go to www.karennan.com

And of course, I will have my new "Torch Fired" Enamel and Glass Beads.  I will be in booth #I174 in the International Ballroom.  I hope to see you!  If you can't make it, I have lots of my beads at my etsy store and Studio 9 in Spanish Village Art Center.

What Happened to 2012?

I have been very bad at adding posts here. I have lots of ideas of what to post and have been collecting photos too.  But when it comes to just sitting down and doing it, I procrastinate. Anyone else like this?

So, before I procrastinate again ..... here are the photos I planned on posting.

Took a short trip to LA to see some art exhibits.  This one was on Pompeii at the J. Paul Getty Villa in Malibu, CA.

For my birthday, I treated myself to a two day art retreat in Claremont, CA. The class was taught by Riki Schumacher and the project was a photo frame. Of course, I haven't finished mine yet.....  But it was such a fun class. We also went to a flea market at the Pasadena Community College that was so overwhelming but with great finds! If you have a chance to take a class with Riki, don't pass it up.  Here is a link to her.

In December I had a girls day at the Vintage Marketplace in Rainbow, CA. About 1 hour north of me in San Diego.  This adorable truck is at the entrance. I should have taken photos of the booth displays but they are all so beautiful it is a bit overwhelming.  Great buys, I definitely recommend going to this show if you like vintage pieces and are in the area. They have it about every 3 months. Here is a link to their facebook page.

December also brings December Nights in Balboa Park.  It is a busy two days for my partners and I in our studio at Spanish Village. Long days and lots of people. The lights are fabulous, food is great and a good time is had by all. Here are a few photos before it got too crowded to move.

Well, that is about it for now.  As for beads and stuff, I am getting ready for the Pasadena Bead & Design Show in Pasadena, CA this coming week.  Thursday through Sunday, 17th to 20th. Hilton Pasadena, 168 S Los Robles Ave, Pasadena CA. I will be in the International Ballroom. I have been making "torch fired enamel" beads and glass beads for weeks in preparation. It is a beautiful show with so much more than beads. I hope you check it out.  For more info go to www.pasadenabeadanddesignshow.com

I have to close with a photo of my pups!
